With 176 podium finishes, Pickering Swim Club topped the total medals count at the 2018 Lisa Flood Christmas Classic.
Benji Sykes (Boys, 2005) continued his remarkable season in the pool, going undefeated in all 10 of his events and setting seven club records in the process. Benji’s 10 gold medals were among 58 won by Pickering swimmers at the meet, Pickering’s final home event of 2018.
Another big batch of Pickering’s medals came courtesy of Claire Wright (Girls, 2007). She finished on the podium in all eight of her events, winning three gold, three silver and two bronze.
Also medaling in all of her events was Megan Wright (Girls, 2003). Her five golds were second in number among Pickering swimmers, and she earned silver in each of her other two events.
River Saliba (Boys, 2002) scored the club’s best time drop of the meet, cutting 282.67 seconds off his personal bests as part of a five-medal performance (four gold, one silver). Sam Herrington (Boys, 2003) was next with total time off 112.28 seconds, not to mention one gold and four silver medals. Alisha Thaha (Girls, 2005) filled out the top three with 111.62 seconds off. Overall, Pickering swimmers cut 2,826.43 seconds from their best times.
